Happy New Year!!
I don’t know about you, but it feels a little odd saying that. If I can be honest, I can’t believe 2015 is over. It was a tough year, a growing year, but all in all it was a good year. It was the year that I decided to thrive in who I was created to be. The year that I let go of the approval of man to grab hold of the approval of my Heavenly Father. 2015 was the year I became 100% authentically and unapologetically Vonae.
Somewhere in that year, I gained a three and a half year old going on sixteen and a one year old who is an exact replica of her mother. Lord help us all! She may even be a little worse than me. She is a feisty, determined, take nothing from her older brother, world changer. I must admit, I like them feisty. I won’t have to worry about her much on the playground. Her brother, that’s another story.
But as I sit here, looking forward to 2016 and the word that was placed on my heart for the year, I am in awe of God’s goodness and grace. How He sustains us in seasons that seem impossible. How he fights for us, vindicates us and protects us in our times of hardship and troubles.
In 2015 my word was discipline. The discipline to stick it out when times got tough. The discipline to stand firm and trust His plan in my life. I didn’t know it when He spoke it to me that New Years Eve in 2014, but God knew that 2015 would require a whole lot of discipline. Aren’t you glad He warns us in advance?
2016 looks a little different from last year. This year, the word is trust.
A word so simple, yet so hard. A word that pushes me beyond my comfort zone because trust hasn’t always been an easy thing for me. For me, trust leaves room for disappointment. Trust means being vulnerable and susceptible to hurt, pain. Trust puts my plans in the hands of the Master Creator and says, “Here God, do whatever you would like.”
Do whatever you would like . . .
The crazy thing is, we can fight against trusting God’s plan, but it is always good. His plans are always so good.
I believe this year it is time for us to stand back and watch God move. He wants to do something phenomenal in our lives if we will just step back and say, “Yes God, I’m going to trust you.”
As his sons and daughters we can be sure that His response will be,
“Now watch what I can do!”
Trust in His promises! He is faithful.
Happy New Year!!
